Foreign Office, February 18, 1013. WITH reference to the letter from this department of the 29th ultimo I am directed by Secretary Sir E. Grey to transmit herewith, to be laid before the Marquess of Crewe, a copy of a despatch from His Majesty's Minister at Peking respecting the alleged smuggling of opium into Yunnan from Burma, and cultivation on the Burma-

Yunnan frontier.'

I am to suggest that the request contained in the last paragrapli of Sir J. Jordan's despatch may be complied with.

Sir E. Grey proposes, subject to the concurrence of Lord Crewe, to approve the terms of Sir J. Jordan's note to the Wai-chino Pu,
